Perth Tango Orchestra

Perth’s first ever Argentine Tango Orchestra is here. A not-for-profit group formed in 2019 to bring the culture, energy, community and textures of this rich tradition to WA audiences.

Presenting Orquesta Típica, a 14 piece big band-meets-chamber orchestra playing the golden era of Argentinian Tango repertoire; Pugliese, Troilo, Biagi, Di Sarli, Piazzolla & more!

Tango Noir

Tango Noir comprises of violinists Julia Watson and Madeline Antoine, and pianist/piano accordionist Sarah Saunders. With a passion for the fiery music of tango and gypsy traditions this trio packs a punch with their rhythmic drive and virtuosic display of musicality which weave together the new and the old in musical mastery.

Sarah and Julia have both had first hand experience studying under the current day 'masters' of Tango at the Reed Tango school for musicians in the US, collaborating with players from Buenos Aires and further. With their learned experience and ongoing passion for making great music this ensemble will keep you engaged with lush string lines, rhythm to get your toes tapping, and a virtuosity garnered through their collective experience and study as inspired classical musicians.

Tango Noir recorded La Muerte del Angel by Astor Piazzolla, the first track of their debut album. March 2020 saw a collaboration with US based Bandoneon player Heyni Solera and Tango Noir in preparation for recording Piazzolla’s famed Adiós Nonino and Verano Porteño. The subsequent recordings are yet to appear.
